• Elastomeric isolation bearings replaced existing rigid bearings at 13 support piers and will substantially improve seismic behavior.
• Dampers were added between piers and superstructure over the shipping channel to provide a “soft” energy dissipating resistant connection between the superstructure and the supporting pier caps.
